Whoever has been following 70000TONS OF METAL, The Original, The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, over the past 9 years, does not only know that it is much more than just another festival at sea. They will also know that one of the things that make it such a unique once in a lifetime event is that even now, only 2 months before the Independence Of The Seas will take 3000 Metalheads and 60 world-class Heavy Metal bands from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Cozumel, Mexico, from January 7th to 11th, for Round X, the Skipper and his crew always manage to surprise fans with specials – including one time performances, album and band anniversaries, unexpected jam band constellations, and other premieres exclusively happening on board.
After recent additions such as Devin Townsend and Sortilège to the lineup that already features names like Emperor, Epica and Wintersun, 70000TONS OF METAL, The Original, The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, is excited to announce another world premiere event on board, namely the very first live show by Zak Stevens’ new project Archon Angel. The band's debut album "Fallen" will be released in early 2020 on Frontiers Music, with a music video for the title track and pre-orders for the album launching on December 4, 2019.

About ARCHON ANGEL
Archon Angel’s inception goes back to a meeting between producer/guitarist Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere) and former Savatage and Circle II Circle vocalist Zak Stevens, who is also a key performer in Trans-Siberian Orchestra. After immediately finding common creative grounds, Aldo submitted to Zak some song ideas which were reminiscent of the classic Savatage sound of records such as Edge Of Thorns and Gutter Ballet. The two felt the magic was there, so no time was wasted in getting together to craft an absolutely striking metal album.
Zak Stevens remembers the inception of Archon Angel quite vividly: "Aldo was producing the 'Return to Eden' (Timo Tolkki's Avalon) album and that's how we originally met in 2018. He contacted me by email and together we chose the two songs I would be singing on. Right away, it was super easy working with Aldo and we thought very much alike as far as music and production are concerned. And now, here we are today as bandmates in Archon Angel and playing together on the debut album, ‘Fallen’!"
Zak Stevens remembers the inception of Archon Angel quite vividly: "Aldo was producing the 'Return to Eden' (Timo Tolkki's Avalon) album and that's how we originally met in 2018. Right away, it was super easy working with Aldo and we thought very much alike as far as music and production are concerned. "For Archon Angel, we pretty much started all the songs from scratch,” continues Zak. "Aldo had quite a few songs demoed to get things started with and we just went from there. He's an amazing guitarist and I was more than impressed with everything he did. From there, everyone got involved. The band guys in Italy (Aldo - Guitars, Marco Lazzarini - Drums, and Antonio Agate – Keys) and in France (my old friend Yves Campion from the band Nightmare on bass) helped Aldo with the instrumentation. I worked on vocal melodies with Aldo, along with my wife Katherine, who is a very creative writer in her own right. She helped Aldo and I with some amazing lyrical contributions and with the overall concept stuff for the album.”
"Zak had a huge impact on my musical background: he has a unique vocal tone and the milestone albums he recorded with Savatage are among my all time favourite albums,” adds Aldo. "When Frontiers Records gave me the chance to work with him during the production of ‘Return To Eden’ I was very excited and everything has been super easy. I am very proud of the music we wrote together and we are a great team, stay tuned for more news!"
In the songwriting department, some of the most outstanding writers and musicians from the Italian Rock scene couldn’t help but pitch in, including Simone Mularoni (of DGM and Sweet Oblivion) and Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge of Forever, Jorn, Hardline, etc.).
The album itself deals with a central character, the "Archon", who is a modern day angel figure. The idea goes back to the religious system of Gnosticism with the difference that in this instance, the Archon's story is immersed into modern-day times. The Archon is a medium who brings messages to God (Demiurge) from the people of Earth. The tale that the album tells is one that follows the story and life and times of the modern-day "Archon", as he is called upon to protect the people of Earth through frightening, turbulent times.
While Archon Angel are currently preparing to tour the world, one thing is safe: It will all start here – making their appearance aboard 70000TONS OF METAL the kick-off for a truly unique experience!

Über ARCHON ANGEL
Archon Angel’s Gründung geht zurück auf ein Treffen zwischen Produzent/Gitarrist Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere) und dem früheren Savatage- und Circle-II-Circle-Sänger Zak Stevens, der auch im Trans-Siberian Orchestra eine zentrale Rolle spielt. Nachdem die beiden feststellten, dass sie sich kreativ auf gleicher Höhe befinden, legte Aldo Zak einige Songideen vor, die an den klassischen Savatage-Sound auf Alben wie “Edge Of Thorns” und “Gutter Ballet” erinnerten. Sie spürten die Magie, ließen keine Zeit verstreichen und erarbeiteten zusammen ein absolut eindrucksvolles Metalalbum.
Zak Stevens erinnert sich an die Gründung Archon Angels ziemlich genau: “Aldo hatte gerade “Return to Eden” (Timo Tolkkis Avalon) produziert und so haben wir uns 2018 ursprünglich kennengelernt. Er hat mich per E-Mail kontaktiert und wir haben zusammen zwei Songs ausgesucht, die ich singen sollte. Von Anfang an war es super easy, mit Aldo zu arbeiten, denn wir haben eine sehr ähnliche Denkweise, was Musik und Produktion angeht. Und heute sind wir hier, als Bandkollegen in Archon Angel, und spielen zusammen auf unserem Debütalbum “Fallen”!”
“Bei Archon Angel haben wir von Null angefangen” , führt Zak fort. “Aldo hatte für den Anfang ein paar Demos und da haben wir dann einfach weitergemacht. Er ist ein hervorragender Gitarrist und ich war mehr als beeindruckt von allem, was er tat. Von da an kamen die anderen dazu. Die Bandkollegen in Italien (Aldo – Gitarre, Marco Lazzarini – Schlagzeug, Antonio Agate – Keyboard) und in Frankreich (mein alter Freund Yves Campion von der Band Nightmare am Bass) haben Aldo bei der Instrumentalisierung geholfen. Ich habe mit ihm an den Gesangsmelodien zusammen mit meiner Frau Katherine gearbeitet, die selber

“Zak hatte einen großen Einfluss auf meinen musikalischen Hintergrund: Er hat eine einzigartige Stimmfarbe und die Meilenstein-Alben, die er mit Savatage aufgenommen hat, gehören zu meinen Lieblingsalben”, fügt Aldo hinzu. “Als Frontiers Records mir die Chance gaben, mit ihm an der Produktion von “Return To Eden” zu arbeiten, war ich sehr aufgeregt und alles war super einfach. Sobre ARCHON ANGEL
El inicio de Archon Angel se remonta a una reunión entre el productor / guitarrista Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere) y el ex vocalista de Savatage y Circle II Circle, Zak Stevens, quien también es un actor clave en Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Después de encontrar inmediatamente motivos creativos comunes, Aldo presentó a Zak algunas ideas de canciones que recordaban el sonido clásico de Savatage de discos como Edge Of Thorns y Gutter Ballet. Los dos sintieron que la magia estaba allí, por lo que no perdieron el tiempo reuniéndose para crear un álbum de metal absolutamente sorprendente.
Zak Stevens recuerda el inicio de Archon Angel de manera muy vívida: "Aldo estaba produciendo el álbum 'Return to Eden' (Avalon de Timo Tolkki) y así es como nos conocimos originalmente en 2018. Me contactó por correo electrónico y juntos elegimos las dos canciones en las que estaría cantando. De inmediato, fue muy fácil trabajar con Aldo y pensamos mucho en lo que respecta a la música y la producción. Y ahora, aquí estamos hoy como compañeros de banda en Archon Angel y tocando juntos en el álbum debut, ‘Fallen’”.
"Para Archon Angel, comenzamos prácticamente todas las canciones desde cero", continúa Zak. “Aldo tenía un buen número de canciones demostradas para comenzar y simplemente comenzamos desde allí. Es un guitarrista increíble y yo estaba más que impresionado con todo lo que hizo. A partir de ahí, todos se involucraron. Los chicos de la banda en Italia (Aldo - Guitarras, Marco Lazzarini - Batería y Antonio Agate - Teclados) y en Francia (mi viejo amigo Yves Campion de la banda Nightmare en el bajo) ayudaron a Aldo con la instrumentación. Trabajé en melodías vocales con Aldo, con mi esposa Katherine, quien es una escritora muy creativa por derecho propio. Ella nos ayudó a Aldo y a mí con algunas contribuciones líricas increíbles y con el concepto general del álbum".
"Zak tuvo un gran impacto en mi formación musical: tiene un tono vocal único y los álbumes que grabó con Savatage están entre mis álbumes favoritos de todos los tiempos", agrega Aldo. "Cuando Frontiers Records me dio la oportunidad de trabajar con él durante La producción de 'Return To Eden' estaba muy emocionado y todo ha sido muy fácil. En el departamento de composición de canciones, algunos de los escritores y músicos más destacados de la escena del rock italiano no pudieron evitar intervenir, incluidos Simone Mularoni (de DGM y Sweet Oblivion) y Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge of Forever, Jorn, Hardline, etc.).
El álbum en sí trata de un personaje central, el "Arconte", que es una figura de ángel moderna. La idea se remonta al sistema religioso del gnosticismo con la diferencia de que, en este caso, la historia del Arconte está inmersa en los tiempos modernos. El Arconte es un medio que trae mensajes a Dios (Demiurgo) de la gente de la Tierra. La historia que cuenta el álbum es una que sigue la historia, la vida y los tiempos del "Arconte" de hoy en día, ya que se le pide que proteja a la gente de la Tierra en tiempos turbulentos y aterradores.

If you follow 70000TONS OF METAL, The Original, The World’s Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise on social media, you may have noticed that they are notorious for using the term “SOON” when it comes to their festival announcements. This year, they really stretched the meaning of “SOON”, with fans waiting in anticipation for the lineup and sale dates. Well, the new “SOON” is NOW...
The phrase “coming home” always has some emotional elements attached to it. Since 2011, for thousands of Metalheads, it means joining the 70000TONS OF METAL cruise, sailing out of South Florida, USA. It’s where they meet their Heavy Metal family and make new friends when the United Nations of Heavy Metal reunites every year. In 2020, “coming home” will have another meaning to go with it, as Round X of 70000TONS OF METAL, The Original, The World’s Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise will bring Sailors to Cozumel, Mexico, the original Port of Call back in 2011.

Este año realmente han ampliado el sentido de 'SOON', y los fans han estado esperando con gran anticipación los anuncios de las bandas y fechas de venta. Bueno, el nuevo 'SOON' es AHORA...
La frase “volver a casa” siempre conlleva algunos elementos emocionales. Desde 2011, para miles de metaleros, esta frase tiene el significado de embarcarse en un crucero llamado 70000TONS OF METAL, navegando desde el sur de Florida, EEUU. Es ahí el lugar donde se reencuentran con su familía unida por el Heavy Metal y donde forman nuevas amistades - una verdadera reunión anual de todas las 'Naciones Unidas del Heavy Metal en Altamar'.
